Let me just start off by saying I LOVE Torchwood. It’s definately one of my top 5 favorite shows, which, for someone who’s a total tv nerd like myself, is saying a lot. I was heartbroken when the prospects of getting another season seemed like a bleak possibility, but when we finally heard that we were getting another season, I think it’s safe to say we all rejoiced.

When it was revealed that the show was going to be moving to the US, and leaving behind the familiarity and charm of Wales, that was the first time I started to get worried.

Well, I just watched the first episode, and I’m really trying to keep an open mind. I’m trying to hold judgement until I see the next episode, but I’m really scared. I love Torchwood so much, and I’m terrified that they’re going to ruin it. I know Russell T. Davies is on board, but there are a few things that I just can’t stop worrying about.

1. It being now set in the US. I mean, part of the charm of the show had to do with its surroundings, and now there will be a bunch of Americans thrown in to the mix, and I worry that that will change the dynamics of the group.

2. The freedoms that the writters had with being on a UK network. There are very few American channels that would allow even half of what UK channels will, and I’m nervous that Starz will water down the sass, sex, and general gayness of Torchwood.

3. Ianto. Without trying to sound like a total drama queen, when Ianto died a little part of my heart died with him. I sobbed for hours. It hurt me so much that I literally couldn’t watch or read ANYTHING about it. I couldn’t even bring myself to watch interviews with any of the actors. I mean, a whole year and a half after I finished Season Three I decided that I was finally ready to watch a fan video someone made on YouTube, and I couldn’t even handle it. I started sobbing, and it wasn’t even a GOOD fan video. The biggest hesitation I had about watching Miracle Day was a) not seeing Ianto there, and b) how they were going to deal with his absence. As of the first episode there has been exactly zero mentions of Ianto.

It’s only been the first episode, so I’ll wait and see how things progress before forming a whole opinion on the new season. What are your thoughts about Torchwood: Miracle Day?
